Lloyd Jeffries raises the stakes in Embers of Shadow, delivering a gripping, high-stakes continuation of the Ages of Malice series. What stood out most to me was how the characters evolve—especially Rhyme, who faces impossible odds with grit and heart. The spiritual and political undertones hit hard without being preachy, and the pacing kept me constantly on edge. A solid addition to the series, with just the right amount of tension, betrayal, and action.
