Metal from Heaven by August Clarke
challenging
dark
tense
slow-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
3.5
So this work is ambitious, the pose is gorgeous- if leaning a bit too heavy on purple. The themes and ultimate messages and the world’s politics are gripping , and it is a world I wish I knew more about.
But as someone who struggled with the locked tomb series for its writing style- this one was simply not the best fit for me.
I respect the work - can see this working for very specific people, it has immaculate vibes , all for the political complication and discussion worthy density- but I felt a disconnect with the characters and was not a huge fan of the prose.
It was good though- I am glad I read it , it is entirely just a personal taste thing .
