Thank heavens that's over. What a bore. And Hardy seems insistent on undercutting his own drama on several occasions, his footnote about the wedding a great example of that impulse. This makes my 5th Hardy novel. I think I can officially refuse to read anymore. I've done my time, thankyouverymuch.
