Funny Story by Emily Henry

4.0

4.5 stars*

i don’t know what emily henry is sprinkling in her books, really. 40 pages in, and i knew this is gonna be sitting next to book lovers in my top emily henry books. which is interesting because of the stark contrast between book lovers’ charlie lastra (the standards, the man of my dreams, it’s him or nothing) and this book’s miles nowak. i’m not into scruffy, spontaneous men but somehow miles and daphne worked so well for me. plot well paced, characters well developed. i think i finally caught what henry was trying to do with beach read. even that little could-have-been-prevented angst towards the end? devoured it

could’ve been a 5 star read but the rating is reserved for charlie (sorry, miles)
