The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: A Memoir

William Kamkwamba grew up in poverty in Malawi, Africa. After a nationwide famine, his family cannot afford to send him to school. He uses the local library that was donated by American missionaries to keep up with his studies. In one of the books he learns about windmills and decides to build his own to help his family. Using the limited resources he can find around town, he builds “electric wind” and catches the attention of people near and far.
