Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction #1 by Inio Asano

5.0

Not exactly what I expected when I read it had mechs and aliens, but trusting I love Inio Asano's work, gave it a go anyway.

Needless to say, I was not disappointed. While there are those sci-fi elements, the whole setting and focus of the plot seems to be the most normal and grounded thing about it. Despite the fact there's an alien invasion and constant tension, this seems to only grab the attention of the general populace sporadically before they return to their day to day life. Shedding a light on the fact that the invasion didn't actually stop the mundane nature of day-to-day life. The teenager escapism that the girls constantly seek isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's a really interesting take on the whole alien invasion thing and worth a read if you like his other work.
