Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi (Novel) Vol. 1 by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
adventurous
funny
lighthearted
medium-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
- Strong character development? It's complicated
- Loveable characters? Yes
- Diverse cast of characters? No
- Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated
I intend to tackle all the volumes during my two weeks vacation.
I love how much the vibes of the characters feel similar to the vibes of the characters in the show. Like I retrospectively appreciate the casting and how each actor just perfectly suits their character.
Reading this is a delight. I cannot imagine reading this without knowing the story though. It would simply be way too confusing I think. MXTX's writing in this story makes it so that wwx constantly mentions things that have happened but he doesn't explain them and so the reader has to wait and hope at some point those things will start to make sense. Like if I read this without the context of the show I think I'd be too frustrated with it and just wouldn't continue. But reading this while knowing and remembering enough makes it much more enjoyable. I don't remember every detail so it really feels like I'm rediscovering a story but without getting hung up on details that differ.
