| I went in to this book thinking I was getting a fun dark taboo romance about a step uncle and niece. What I ended up with was so much more.
The level of character depth, discovery and growtht that this book contains was wonderful. I was driven to keep reading as I wanted to keep going. It truly felt like they were falling in love, developing a real relationship and not just a fast paced insta-love which is so common in theses books. The history that both characters bring and work through is at times gut-wrenching, painful and hard to read, but it's so well developed you also don't want to stop. When the strings all get pulled and the story comes together it fits perfectly and I was there for every word.
I adored that both characters were mature and able to communicate - even if the fmc held things back it was expalined and as a reader I did't get lost in the usual miscommunication trope - her reasons for communciation hesitation were valid and the MMC had amazing intuition to read her - it was wonderful developed.
I loved seeing the vulnerability of both characters being explored and how they both helped each other grow. I'm aboslutely looking forward to more in this series.
Best bits...if you know...you know!
Some amazingly well delivered scenes - the paint - WOW!
Bonfire - let's go!
The tattoo scene ...OMG YES!!!
Ronan will absolutely live rent free on my book boyfriend shelf - the man could chase me barefoot over a rocky path while degrading me and I would turn around and beg him for more.
