Rereading Amanda Quick books years later...
You know when there’s a character in a book who experiences something (usually bad) but they never feel like a character, just a plot device. This book was the first book to really teach me that lesson. It’s happens A LOT in books when a woman (who is not the protagonist) is raped. We see how everyone around her is affected by her rape, and how it drives the story but the actual character just fades away.
