Altered Carbon
by Richard K. Morgan
An entertaining sci-fi noir that could have done with a little less narration by the main character on anatomy.
For those that have seen the show, both have their strengths and weaknesses but one salient non-spoiler point I wish they would have kept for the show: Kovacs is not one of the last envoys alive. He was not part of the rebellions. The Protectorate actually created the envoys as super-human soldiers to combat said resistance. The envoys still exist - super soldiers without a war. Which is hinted at as causing issues throughout the galaxy.
