Everybody should read this, if only to have a toolbox to counter nasty racists. This book makes an airtight case that our racial divisions were created intentionally, perpetuating pernicious economic inequality. If you're a white American who inherited any real estate-based wealth from your parents, you did not build your success yourself. People should know how they've benefited and what they owe the people who suffered at their expense.

In addition, Rothstein is that rare academic writer who writes brief, clear, informative paragraphs, which I deeply appreciate.
