Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

emotional funny lighthearted fast-paced

4.0

I was correct - enjoyed this way more than Dani's story and I think it was entirely down to the fact I read it instead of listening.

Very cute, suitably steamy, and an overall enjoyable read. I'm struggling with my rating (4 or 5 stars??) because whilst I did have a good time reading this, I think the issue was maybe a bit too much telling and not enough showing. Specifically about Eve's issues. It made her character growth a bit meh because we didn't see any contrast, we were just told about it. Which is great for Eve but bland for the reader. It doesn't have enough meat to it, there's no emotional build up. It was also a little bit insta-love. The book takes place over a two/three WEEK period and the OTT loveydovey shit at the end was A Bit Much for me. I understand they were together, like, all day every day and that can be intense and people can bond quickly, but I still would have preferred a bit of a longer time frame.

On the positive side, the banter between the characters was a highlight, and I raced through it in one sitting.

5*'s, just because I want to start the year on a high (though I'm not sure it really deserves it).

Edit, 5 minutes later: I've already changed my mind. 4 stars.
