The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker

3.0

An intriguing presence that Barker almost seems limited by—it's as if she doesn't want to stray too far from her source material and, as a result, leaves the women of her focus too underdeveloped to hold the story's weight on its own. Achilles remains the most interesting and well-developed character here, as seems inevitable. Overall competently written (though I'm not sure how well the Britishisms of the dialogue worked for me) but a little thin.
