An Anonymous Girl by Sarah Pekkanen, Greer Hendricks
1.0
The use of passive voice in this story is egregious, unnecessary, and grating to the point where I tried to skip through as much of Dr. Shields’ chapters as I could.
The unfurling of our central mystery occurs in the last twenty pages, just like the clue of each chapter is in the last four sentences. If I had just read those portions, I likely would have the same grasp on the plot, and much less of a headache!
At this point, I am wondering why I had to wade through consistent grammatical misery for such an unremarkable end. In their next novel, I hope the authors are able to bring back the twists and turns of The Wife Between Us!
