Misfit
by Elle Kennedy
wow, wow, wow
this was the first book of Elle Kennedy’s that i’ve read, even though i own a bunch of her books, so, like i do with every book i read from a new author, i walk into the experience not knowing if i’ll like the reading style. the style for this book was a little confusing and hard to get into at first once i discovered that not only RJ and Sloane get their own chapters, but some of the side characters do as well.
having multiple POVs throws me off sometimes and makes it a bit difficult for me to enjoy the book, but i think Elle made it work really well. with some books i’ve read, having multiple character POVs got confusing and watered down the plot, but that was definitely not the case here. if anything, i feel like the the additional character POVs added to the plot and made it so much more binge worthy than it would’ve been without them. you definitely have to make sure you pay attention to whose part of the story you’re on though.
this book kept me engaged from start to finish, and i truly hated every time i had to put it down. i truly loved each character, and especially RJ and Sloane’s characters and their ever growing relationship. Sloane’s self confidence is inspiring since i tend to lack self confidence of my own. and don’t even get me started on Lawson… that boy is quite the character and i truly cannot wait for him to get his own book. i absolutely LOVED his humor and his sexual intentions always managed to catch me off guard even though i should’ve seen them coming haha.
the cliffhanger at the end is definitely what got me and is making me run to my room to grab my copy of Rogue, because i NEED to know what happens. i can’t wait to see how Rogue plays out, and how Elle continues this series.
