*I was given a review copy in exchange for an honest review. And yes, this is my honest review. This book deserved 5 stars!*
This book had me gripped from the first page! I enjoyed every minute of it.
First off, I enjoyed Cass's character. She was quirky, brave, and loveable. Just the right blend of strong and sweet. I love following along with her and cheering her on through her highs and lows.
I also loved the Daedalus crew, especially Captain Gresley. The found family dynamic was so special. I almost thought it was too good to be true and half expected them all to turn out to be bad guys. I was happy to be wrong.
Theo was a great character too. His moral dilemma was interesting to follow along.
The steampunk elements were great! I don't think I've read a steampunk before, so this was a great entrance into the genre. Everything was built well enough for me to understand it all.
The whole Mist thing was also interesting. There was the perfect amount of worldbuilding around it for me to understand it, but not so much that it took away from the mystery of it all. Everything in the Mistworld was intriguing and I found myself worried for the characters as they explored through the infected areas. The Turned were particularly scary and I'm interested to learn more about them.
This was an exciting story from start to finish and I'm excited for book 2. It can't come soon enough!
