Storm of Olympus by Claire M. Andrews

2.25

Rating: C-
It's not often one flaw prevents me from recommending a well written book. Storm of Olympus is a satisfying conclusion to the overall story. Daphne and Apollo's relationship is tested and solidified, the war between the gods and titans is well portrayed, the action is well written and grand in scope, and the secondary plot threads are wrapped up in a satisfying manner. It was especially great to see Zeus and Menelaus put in their place. However, the relationship between Daphne and Hermes pretty much knee-capped this one. It would be bad enough if they were just flirting at the start when Apollo wasn't around, but Daphne responds to his flirting with Apollo present/back in her life, right up until the final bloody scene.
Artemis sacrifices her life so Apollo can be with Daphne, and Daphne STILL seems to have some romantic affection for Hermes.
It drove me berserk and ruined what would've been a solid send-off to the trilogy. After everything Daphne and Apollo went through, and everything they sacrificed for one another, I wanted to see them get together, but everything involving Hermes went unaddressed and left me fuming. What a disappointment.
