The Daily Coyote: Story of Love, Survival, and Trust In the Wilds of Wyoming
by Shreve Stockton
“The Daily Coyote” is a touching and inspiring tale of contemporary life outside the big cities of America. For those of you who are fans of the Blog of the same title, “The Daily Coyote”, this book will be both familiar and wholly new all at once. For those of you who are unacquainted, sit back and enjoy this refreshing and unique memoir of a young woman, a coyote, a housecat and a cowboy that will sweep you into the majesty of the Big Longhorn Mountains and a “simpler” life where survival comes first.
“The Daily Coyote” is a deeply personal account of Shreve's first year spent in Wyoming and her journey to raise a rescued coyote pup named Charlie. We the readers are given a surprisingly intimate look into her relationships and the daily rituals that make up her new life. She provides a sincere glimpse into her life and heart, sharing the beginnings of her relationship with Charlie and her equally new friend and companion, Mike. We share her pride in surviving independently, in finding simple raw pleasure in the natural world and her struggle to raise an unpredictable coyote all the while trying to remain healthy in body and spirit. I was pleasantly surprised to discover more about her personal life beyond her time spent raising Charlie, and yet, even more surprised to see just how intertwined she truly is with Charlie, Mike, the land and the community.
After reading the book, be sure to take a look at her Blog for current updates and photos of Charlie, Eli and newcomer, Chloe.
