The Five Wounds
by Kirstin Valdez Quade
An intergenerational story about bad luck leading to bad choices and bad choices leading to bad luck. Each character was very well-drawn. I don't mind flawed characters but this book made me realize I have to be able to empathize with a character to enjoy the reading experience. I couldn't stand Amadeo and dreaded the parts told from his POV. I really felt for Yolanda and found her backstory the most interesting part of the book.
