A nice story told from the "perspective" of a mans dog that follows his life.
It's a beautiful (anthropomorphized) view of what our companion animals might think of us. From his life as a puppy with his Bachelor human, his best friend, his companion. Then the introduction of a woman, vying for the mans attention. At first the narrator is wary of the woman but soon learns she isn't so much a threat as a new companion (though the woman's parents are adamantly non-dog friendly (and against the man) and this causes many troubles in their future). Following their growth as a family, their growth of the family, the dogs protective and loving nature of all the people, and the hardships they face with loss and betrayal.
Everyone wishes their pets view them in this way and all animals wish their owners/companions treated them in this way.
