A charming novella about Lady Amelia Pembroke who decides she must marry in order to allow her younger brother to marry and bring his wife back to the ancestral home. Her plan is to attend the 75th Annual Christmas Ball held by Lord Sheffield, an event which all eligible bachelors will attend. However, her plans are thwarted when she discovers that this year's ball has been cancelled due to a lightening strike on the ballroom Amelia is determined to bring the full force of her considerable organisational talents to making the event occur.
When a hyper-organised, managing woman meets a man who carefully regiments his life between working from 8 am to 8 pm and cavorting from 8 pm to 8 am sparks are bound to fly, but who is really managing whom?
This is my entry into the Dukes of War series and so far I like what I read. It also makes a nice change from all the contemporaries I have been reading lately.
