First Love, Take Two by Sajni Patel
4.0

I really enjoyed this entry to The Trouble with Hating You series!

This is a second chance romance, which tend to be my least favorite romance troupe. But this had me forgetting I hate the troupe so much! This entry focuses on Preeti and Daniel. They dated for years starting in college. Daniel was the love of Preeti's life until she broke up with him out of nowhere and has been running from him since. 6 years later, Preeti is finishing her residency, trying to find a job, and forgetting to find a new apartment. Eventually a short term apartment falls into her lap, the only problem is she also has a new roomie - Daniel.

In this novel the characters have to overcome cultural and family obstacles, stigmas associated with mental illness, and the apartment having ONLY ONE BED. It's a mix of heavier and lighter topics, similar to the style of Patel's last novel. This time we only get Preeti's point of view, and while I prefer a dual POV romance, in this case the single POV was the correct choice. I continue to enjoy this series and will 100% pick up the next entry when it's published!
