how is this my first tj klune book?? it truly was like candy canes and pinecones. epic and awesome.

this is how you write a shifter book! ahh it was so good. found family x1000. pack and familial love and protection and understanding and ugh i’m a sucker for that. ox & joe are both fantastic complex characters (honestly they all are). you are rooting for them every moment even when they are fully acting their age and driving you crazy for it. these two had both been through so many different yet horrible experiences but still were working on themselves. watching them grow up from boys to men was such a privilege to experience. i can’t get over how much character growth happened in this. i laughed, i cried, i raged, i really got the experience the full range of human emotions here lol.

ox & joe are the main characters, but klune does such a phenomenal job creating connections between you as the reader and all the side characters. no one seems unimportant or unnecessary, the bennett family & the guys at the garage were such a treat to get to know.

AND THE IMAGERY?? friends. i love the way tj klune conveys emotion so much i don’t think i can ever adequately explain it. everything feels so real and visceral. i fear i will never recover.

this book was easy to read & understand but had such depth to it. it’s easily one of my favorite books of the year. 12/10 recommend.
