torn between a VERY GOOD 3 star or weak 4 star, i really wanted to love this one and there is nothing necessarily bad about the writing but i wasnt itching to continue reading it.
matty and ro really deserve each other !! usually the scale is tipped onto one pity character but they both suffered enough that they deserve only love for each other !!
there wasnt really any jawdropping plot twists and the relationship between the mains was so losely described, the whole thing felt empty. like lets be fr, they didnt have like ONLY 7 tutor sessions in one semester but only about 7 are written in the book. the abrupt endings to chapters isnt my favorite either. freddy's/matty's relationship with his teammates (and roommates??) is SO skipped over, i felt like they aint hanging out like it was mentioned in unsteady, yeah several bennett appearances were greatly appreciated but it felt like the mains didnt have a life outside of each other - like matty is crazy popular, and my girl ro has a literal job that is mentioned at the start and in the epiloge ??? like how is she still hired? i felt like the book is trying to push found family trope but there are far too little scenes to make that emotional connection (except for bennett, he is now ro's brother - no debate!!, cant wait for your book <3)
ik i am being overly critical bc i didnt once think about dnf'ing, its still a healing and cute story that will sometimes awoke your protective spirits over the mains and anger FOR them, they are treated like dirt in this book but ig thats the point so they can heal each other :')
