The Haunting of Alejandra by V. Castro

slow-paced

3.0

I feel like I'm in a reading slump; everything has been 2 or 3 stars, and unfortunately this is no different. The premise of this is sooo good but it lacked in execution. It was slow and dull in some parts, which took the horror of La Llorona away. There's multiple POVs and flashbacks to Alejandra's ancestors and their own hauntings of La Llorona. It's a lot to keep track of sometimes as the flashbacks aren't chronological and don't always seem to have relevance to the present day story line. The dialogue felt weird and unnatural at times. By the end, I just wasn't all that invested, unfortunately.
