While an allegory concerning abusive relationships to which we all knew the ending, it was an interesting read.
I despised Doug throughout the storyand the effects of his abuse toward Annie linger throughout, so much so that I could feel Annie's anger and pain despite her not being "human."
This book also addresses the objectification of women and the sexualization of women. While I wish it delved deeper into these themes, it was still a compelling read.
I wish the story did a little more with what it was trying to say. Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading about Annie's experience. Pleased 8 out of 10.
