It didn’t pick up until halfway through in my opinion, and even then there were slow parts. Finishing it left me intrigued by the prospect of the next book but apprehensive about another slow reading experience. I loved the representation of genders and sexualities — not a utopia by any means but felt real and possible. I appreciated the author’s care and intentionality around disability representation. And I’m so into the whole concept of a pre columbian inspired fantasy.
