My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

5.0

Moshfegh has an amazing way to write about the banal and mundane in such an interesting manner. I never felt bored reading about this woman’s inner thoughts, ways to fall asleep, etc etc.

This existential crisis novel is one of the best one’s I’ve read yet. I loved the cynicism, and dry humour. I want to say that this novel critiques society, but I know that the main character would just laugh at my face if I implied that.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. If you are an over-thinker, if you are specially good at noticing details, if you are a slow prose with high reward type of person, you will have loads of fun with this novel.
