Sylvia Moreno-Garcia is a very slow boil, which makes it hard to rate pace. First third is slow, secon third is medium, last third is breathless. I preferred Mexican Gothic, but she certainly came up with some interesting images with light and shadow, sound and silence, and the flammability of silver nitrate film.
