Godkiller by Hannah Kaner
4.5

godkiller is a debut, not perfect, but worth the read. after reading the prologue i just sat there and thought “what the actual fuck did just happen?“. it wasnʼt bad, just too much for my brain when i read it.
but the beginning was slow, it really was. i read too fast at times, having to reread several pages. my adhd-brain just couldnʼt get past it.
but damn, it was worth keeping on reading. this book made me gasp, i saw the plot twist coming, but i still was shocked. this rarely happens. and i need part 2 asap. the ending was *chefʼs kiss* and i cannot wait to read the second part of the series.

the characters were all unique. i liked how they had strong and unique personalities and their growth troughout the story being well written.
kissen is a bisexual badass. it was nice to read a book where the female character was “grumpy“, kinda tiring to see so many sweet girls on bookstagram, get outta that stereotype. but besides kissen being kinda unfriendly and guff, she has a good, big heart. she’s got a golden heart, iʼm telling you.
anyways, thereʼs not much i can say about eloʼs character. not because heʼs awfully written, but because idk if i like him or not.
inara is a lovely character. i loved her a lot. i cannot find the words to describe her character, but she was written very well.
and skedi is my favorite. is a god, looks like an animal. as a vegan person, i love animals. so animals will always be on top of my list. i donʼt like lies but iʼll pretend like i didnʼt hear anything for skedi. and i think heʼs hilarious. i donʼt know why.

however, the romance was pretty random. it felt like “trending on booktok, writing it down.“ but believe me, dear hannah kaner, you do not need this to write a good book. it was really good, but the romance just wasnʼt necessary already, it felt rushed.

still, this book was written beautifully. the characters felt human, they felt real. the worldbuilding was great. the romance and the slow pacing are the only things iʼd criticize.
this was one of the best debuts iʼve read and iʼm ready for part 2.
