Parable of the Talents by Octavia E. Butler

challenging dark emotional reflective medium-paced

4.75

I really wanted this to be a 5 star book but it missed the mark by a notch for two reasons: First, while I do not oppose using characters as tools to get a message or an idea across, this is done rather bluntly at times. Second, the ending is okay but it feels rushed and also falls flat since it misses resolving, or at least explaining, some things. Still, I preferred this to the first installment (Parable of the Sower) as it gives us several POVs that not only keep the story interesting but also keep readers from falling into the heroisation trap as they criticise each other.
