UY.. where to start... crushing flashbacks, worldbuilding that utterly takes over (and is boring) fulsome, flabby writing... and truly criminal reliance on the passive voice, thus loading what is likely a good(though slim) story with an additional and unnecessary 400 pages (my copy is 618 pp). Somewhere, deeply buried, was a good book.
