Guns of the Dawn by Adrian Tchaikovsky

4.0

This was my first Tchaikovsky and I picked it purely because it was a standalone. I wasn't sure how I was gonna enjoy a book about warfare and didn't know much going it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Although I wasn't the biggest fan of the romance (which is only a minor subplot anyway) and the ending felt a bit drawn out to me, Emily was an interesting enough character to keep me engaged throughout. I really liked some of the friendships she developed and loved how she kept adapting to her changing circumstances, determined not to give up.

I will definitely be reading more from this author and am excited to explore some of his other works!
