The subtitle of this book is the best descriptor - Briana Ortiz truly understands Jacob Maddox's social anxiety and this is their (fictional) story. In some ways it is a typical "girl meets boy" romance with it ups, downs, and quirks. Jimenez did her research for the social anxiety theme of the book and shows how everyone needs someone to "have their back" whether romantically, professionally, or in families.
Trust is another theme of this book as Jacob demonstrates he, a man, CAN be trusted. Briana's reference to Mr. Darby is an example of how Jacob actually listens to Briana and follows through. For me, this was a page-turner and I highly recommend this "summer read".
