After Ever Happy
by Anna Todd
The GROWTH we always wanted to see! I couldn’t put this one down and it made all the messy stuff that came before it a redeemable and a beautiful thing actually.
I was shocked when Tessa returned home to find her fathers body. The anger and destruction Hardin put her through? Terrible. But that was the turning point and I was so happy to see him 100% committed to confronting his inner demons and becoming a better partner for someone he loved so much. FINALLY SOME THERAPY! I loved Tessa’s spine in this one: she attacked the future she wanted with 100% commitment to protecting her needs and wants. I ended up hating the time they spent apart, but loved that they actually matured and learned and became the best versions of themselves.
I do wish that during the long epilogue (which btw thank you for the extra content. I loved getting 10+ years into the future) that we could’ve had 1-2 sentences dedicated to the cheerleaders (aka Hardin’s mom is found with another guy on the counter the night before her wedding AND THEN NEVER HEARD FROM AGAIN! What’s that about?) I was confused with why Tessa was so angry with Hardins book- I wouldn’t want my life broadcasted that way either but I think she overreacted.
Anyway I didn’t expect this but I have a book hangover! I did not see this coming! I honestly loved it and would not include Hardin as one of my “book boyfriends”. Cheesy? Yes. Terrible? Sometimes. Ultimately a really good read? Yes!!!!!
