Blackout

So we end on a note. I did love the series. The second book was a second book. A bit of a jumbled mess as it worked through the beginning of the plot and the characterization and setup for the next book. Some things were impossible to miss, like the clone thing. Yeah, if you didn't know George was coming back then you are legally blind in all sense of the word. I have to admit that I really didn't want the two to be romantically into each other. It was really hard by that point to say they weren't by how they reflected and obsessed over each other. I'm not saying it wasn't suitable, I'm saying that the whole "incest" thing is a squirm factor to me. I don't even like reading Thor and Loki slash. I know it's a failing on my part, but thank you for not getting into details.
On the other hand, the villains continue to be overblown and wonderful. There were several points where I kinda just wanted to laugh at how ridiculous it was, but when compared to real life, yeah, people generally are idiots. As much as we would like them to be logical and not go so far off the deep end and accuse stories of being "lazy" when they do, that's more a writing thing then a true life thing.
The pace of this was also improved over the second book. And while the first is still my favorite, this was a good ending to a well thought out series that centered not just on characters and crisis, but on an interesting and well flashed out theme as well.
