Ok look I’ve LOVED this series, but this is by far my least favorite so far.
The pacing was off, the male monologues seemed super out of character and douchey. I.e.- Darrow said something about a female character being “horny for war”. Tf?
I loved Mustangs POV but him trying so hard to write her as “a man but totally a Baddie boss babe” didn’t align with how she’s portrayed in previous books. Maybe that’s because others perspectives of her differ from her own mentality, but it seemed more writer error than that.
Where the gore before served a purpose to teach us about characters and people groups, it seemed just thrown in this books and egregious for no reason… especially when the book is over 700 pages? Again to the pacing being odd and many points feelings like filler-
I found myself just wanting to read for the book to finally be over, because it felt like I’d been reading it forever.
Still very interested in the plot and will be reading Light Bringer when I can thrift it, but hope it’s better than this one was.
