The Predator by RuNyx

I'd heard of this series, but it wasn't something I wanted to dive into right away. Nevertheless, I chose to read it because it was @kubesties September book of the month. I have to admit that it wasn't until I reached the conclusion of the book that I realised it was a duet. This novel is really different from some of the other mafia books I've read, contrary to my expectations, but I'm not upset about it. Everything in the plot is unexpected, and it's quite captivating. I had several theories about the two characters' relationship in each chapter, but none of them proved true. Which I enjoyed since it made learning the truth all the more exciting. The only reason this book didn't receive five stars from me was because it was written in third person, which I despise. That, though, is truly a personal issue and not a flaw with the book. But simply put, I think it would have improved this work enormously. It would have been nice to at least witness it from Morana's first-person perspective, and maybe in a few situations, from Tristan's perspective as well.

“No one else gets to kill you, Ms. Vitalio," he spoke quietly. "The last face you see before you die will be mine. When it comes to death, you're mine.”
