And Tango Makes Three by Justin Richardson, Peter Parnell

4.0

This is a very cute picture/children's book about the New York zoo in which the 2 male penguins Silo and Roy live. Silo and Roy are different from the other penguins because they're in love with each other and not with other females. They want a baby badly and an attentive zoo keeper gives them an egg to hatch from another penguin family that can only care for one egg. So they breed and breed until little penguin girl Tango comes out and is no officially the only penguin child with 2 daddies.

The story itself is sweet enough but it really warms my heart that this is a true event! I think this book is perfect to teach children to be tolerant towards love in all shapes from an early age on. I just wish the story would've been a little longer and maybe dealt with obstacles a gay penguin couple might have to face. But that would've probably expanded the frame of a children's book.
