A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab

5.0

Whatever I am, she thought, pressing her hand to the wall, let it be enough.

ASDFGHJKLXCVBNMQWERTYUIOP!!!! OH GOD, THIS BOOK IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT KIND OF AWESOME! Once again, Schwab blew me away with her great writing. The best thing about this is there was more magic and more of Lila Bard's stubborn greatness!

Spoiler

Ohmygod, I don't think I could ever love Lila Bard more. She is truly my kind of heroine. Some might get pissed at her recklessness but that is what makes me adore her more. She has always been someone who tries to find trouble for herself, not because she cares less about her life but because she wants to experience living. Lila disguising herself as Stasion was a death wish but she did it anyway. She wants to see what she can do more and to know what she truly is. I am so excited to learn more about the extent of her magic in the next book. I can feel that there is more to Lila Bard than a magician of elements. (hopefully wishing she is an Antari).

Kell! Can I just hug and cry for Kell? This book made me feel so sorry for him. I have only just realized more how caged Kell really is and how indifferent he feels being in the palace. I REALLY HATE BOTH THE KING AND QUEEN FOR HOW THEY ARE TREATING HIM AFTER WHAT HE HAD DONE! It just makes me so mad that they were not even a bit grateful of Kell for sacrificing his life for their son and their kingdom. Like wtf? Though, I am so glad that he was able to release some steam in the Element Games (thanks to Rhy). It's so good to see Kell using his magic for entertainment and not because he is told to or he needed to. I will surely miss him as Kamerov Loste!

ASDFGHJKLCVBNM The wait for Kell and Lila's reunion surely was frustrating but was oh so worth it. Schwab surely knows how to wait for a great timing. What I love most about this book and the main characters was that they were not like puppies sick in love. They miss each other but they do not sulk in a corner, trying to find the other one. They go on with their lives with the hope to meet each other in some time, in some way. Shwab only gives us a bit of this and that and those stolen and quick moments between Lila and Kell makes it the more precious. Lila and Kell meeting in the arena, as Stasion and Kamerov was so exciting. I can feel Lila's satisfaction and happiness in being able to fight Kell one on one. I also enjoyed Kell's frustration as much as Lila did. AND THE BALLROOM SCENE AND THE BALCONY SCENE AAAAHHHHHHH!!! Kell admitting he missed Lila is the death of me!! I love seeing Kell's softer side whenever he is with Lila. It is too precious because it happens less than often. Same with Lila, she has always been hard-headed but she surely have that soft spot for Kell.

I knew there was something between Rhy and Alucard! Ha! I am so going to wait for more of this. (smirks)

The last few chapters was so frustrating and scary! Ugh, that collar! And Holland! Oh, Holland, I do feel so sorry for him. His body have been made vessel of the Vitari. When will he ever be free?

I know I am supposed to read Colleen Hoover's new release but I can't wait to read the next book. I really need to see if Lila can travel in White London. THE WAIT IS GOING TO KILL MEEEEEE!!
