Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

5.0

This book is so beautifully crafted. The emotional struggle Katniss goes through is so painful to read about, but also something that needs to be shown.
How she keeps being used: by the Capitol, by the Rebels, by Snow, by Coin. To finally, after a long battle, be free.

Showing the mental side of the war is so powerful to me.
How Finnick and Katniss almost go insane just purely on the thought that the people they love are taken into captivity by Snow. The way Peeta has changed after they hijack him, and how he doesn’t really know how to act like a human anymore. Also, the difference between Peeta and Gale. Even though Peeta was hijacked, he still seems to have some care for people. Not Gale. He cares about winning the war, no matter the cost.
The contrast is really interesting to read, especially from Katniss’s point of view.
Overall, such a good book. I went through it really fast and was completely sucked into the story. Such an impactful book.
