The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman

4.0

I really liked this novel, which focused on strong women making the best of their less-than-ideal circumstances, and how by working together they became even stronger. I also enjoyed reading about this particular setting: the last days of Masada (a place I hope to visit someday). Judaism after Christ's death is not something I'm very familiar with. It was interesting to learn about all the Judaic traditions from that time period (some found in the Old Testament, others pagan-influenced).
