I genuinely have no idea how to feel about this book. It got so wrapped up in itself at places that I feel like it was difficult to make sense of, and the ending was confusing in a way that it honestly shouldn’t have been.

Maybe I was too distracted when I was reading this, or maybe it just wasn’t my cup of tea, but I just didn’t get it. I also wasn’t fond of Paul at all, which I feel like may be an unpopular opinion. His character seemed to hinge entirely upon shock value and I just couldn’t get behind it. Neither he nor Julian were compelling and I wanted nothing more to just get to the end of this.

I did appreciate the themes of isolation and the difficulties that the leads faced, but unfortunately, everything else just didn’t work to me.

This book contains extremely heavy themes. Please check TWs before picking it up.
