This is a cute little book about space truckers and I think it’s a type of story that is not explored enough in sci fi, even if the execution leaves something to be delivered.
I don’t mind the self-insert style, bookish main character because you need that type of thing when you have a bunch of kooky aliens running around. In general this verged into twee a bit too much but I could call it “cozy” if I’m being generous.
I feel like this series in general owes a lot to Star Trek in the sense that it’s a rather optimistic sci fi story with a ragtag bunch doing various tasks. And that’s not a bad thing. It’s nothing challenging but the different creatures and cultures are cool there’s just enough momentum.
