Alice: the Girl from Earth by Kir Bulychev

It was a fun and charming read. These four Alice books are kind of like if Stanislaw Lem had written his Ijon Tichy stories about a resourceful girl and her father getting into sci fi adventures. I think kids would like it, as long as they have an adult who can answer questions about the Soviet background of the stories.
