The Chaos of Standing Still by Jessica Brody

4.0

A quick read which deals with grief in an interesting way. As readers, we are exposed to Ryn's grief and her coping strategies while finding out in teasing snippets where it stems from, every chapter we find out a few extra details. Along the way we are entertained by the cutesy 'relationship' she forms with the mysterious Xander and a myriad of other characters who all find themselves stuck in an airport due to a sudden blizzard. This story includes characters and moments which make us laugh, cringe and cry but still captures the depth of Ryn's suffering in an honest, raw manner. I felt like I knew Ryn by the end and found myself desperately hoping for her to heal and find herself again.
Overall, I enjoyed this story as a short, lighter read between more complex, darker books.
