I read this book years ago and I still think about it often. The depiction of the horrors experienced by the female characters, their oppression and suffering, haunts me still. It was an incredible book for opening my eyes to true actions happening in the Middle East, I feel I never really understood until I read this. Now I look on with a horror and empathy that I never had before reading.
