There is SO much of this story that I enjoyed. Its pace almost never lets up and it really keeps you on your toes. I always love a found family, and I love a good pirate story, especially with diverse characters and identities. It checks a lot of boxes for me, so I had a great time!
I will say though, the first chapter makes you believe she's been a pirate captain with her own crew and ship for a long time, and yet it takes ages, maybe 3/4 of the way into the book until any of that even starts to happen. So I kept waiting and waiting for the adventures as a crew to start, but it just wasn't happening. Then at the end she said things like, even after all these years, etc. and it had literally only been three years. So some of the timeline things were really off for me.
Also, if you're looking for a romantic story, while this does have a blossoming relationship, I wouldn't call it a romance. It is action adventure all the way. And there are a lot of trigger warnings, so definitely read those first.
