Even though the main character is drawn in a complex and interesting way, I just couldn’t find the depth of feeling for the world and plot that I needed to keep me invested in this story. I think an important reason for that would likely be the pretty gratuitous sexual content that didn’t seem to add much to the story. The manufactured sexual tension between the FMC and literally every male character was way too much. It really took me out of a story that didn’t have time enough to develop.
The audiobook narrator is one of my favorites and she added a lot to the emotional weight of what was a shallow novel trying to do too much. If you like a little plot with your spice, you might love this, so take my review as you will.
