Lots of plot, not much romance but I did find myself enjoying this. Surprising seeing as I'm very much a character over plot girlie. I am also pleasantly surprised I liked the historical aspect - I haven't had much luck with those but maybe I haven't had the right period. So I think I'll check in on Will and Kim in the following installments as well.

I do like the way Will's war experiences are handled. There's obviously some shell shock that leaks through in almost every of his actions, but he's very much unaware it's happening, which I love. His mind just occasionally slips back to the War.

Phoebe, Kim's fiancé, was a lovely supporting character and I really hope she gets her own side story in the later books.
